Contemporary design with an elegant twist
The vision for the scheme was to create an open and transparent work environment that has strong visual links both inward and outward. The buildings are each split into two wings with a central core and full height atrium, bringing light into the centre of the expansive floorplates. Each building is set on a publicly accessible podium creating an active public space that connects with the precinct’s pedestrian network.
Each block consists of two wings and a central triple-volume atrium lobby. The fully glazed lobbies capture north-facing views to the precinct while strategically creating south-facing vistas through the building to Table Mountain.
The building form is split vertically into two uneven blocks: a double-volume layered mass and a single-volume crystalline cube. The masses hover elegantly over each other and shift to orientate themselves to maximise light and the spectacular views towards Table Mountain, the city, and beyond.
The strategic shifts in form create distinct outdoor terraces that give the building a 360 degree orientation and create dynamic internal and external spatial relationships at different heights.
